There is a fund raiser on October 5 that will spotlight a controversial speaker at the West Shore Country Club. This is from John Flood, “The headliner of the fundraiser is a man by the name of James Lindsay. Mr. Lindsay is a controversial author and speaker whom the Southern Poverty Law Center has flagged for his hateful rhetoric. October 4th, 2021, on a Twitter post he called Dr. Peter Hotez, a Jewish medical doctor and vaccine advocate, Dr. Lampshade, in reference to the victims of the holocaust who had their skin used as lampshades by the Nazis. In December of 2021, he was called by the Auschwitz Memorial Museum for attempting to equate vaccine and mask mandates with the holocaust. He responded that the museum was trying to perpetuate its own holocaust. He has peddled White Genocide theory, implying that men are being destroyed by “Drag Floyds” in reference to George Floyd and the rise in anti-LGBT rhetoric.”
Hence, there will be a candlelight vigil in response to this event from 5:00-6:30. Please see the flyer for details. Also from John Flood, “We are in the initial planning stages for this event. Here are my thoughts. We shall gather at the parking lot of the Camp Hill Pool. It is a public place, so there shouldn’t be any parking or trespassing issues. Around 5 to 5:30, we will leave the area and walk on the sidewalk along Cumberland Road to the West Shore Country Club. During the daylight hours, we should carry positive affirming signs supporting diversity and inclusion. At sunset, we will all light candles to remind everyone that darkness is only driven out with light. Love is the only response to hate. There shouldn’t be any political campaign signs supporting any candidate; rather it is our community’s response to the James Lindsay fundraiser.”
