Afghani Assistance – How you can Help!

UUCV has created an Afghani Assistance Team to help with a community-wide effort to move new families from Afghanistan into our area. Members are Cheryl Parsons, Dee Lauderbaugh, Gisela Roethke, Katie McFarland, Michele Burton, Susan Green, Tom Dewall and Kim Stone.

Housing is of paramount concern and if anyone knows of available rental properties, please contact one of us a.s.a.p.

Pastor Mira Hewlett recently shared: New Life Church has helped with some furniture and bicycles and Project SHARE helps with food, but it has become apparent that we will need even more. We will need more furniture, particularly beds, dining tables and chairs and sofas. We are also going to need clothing in all kinds of sizes for adults and children, household goods — vacuum cleaners, pots and pans, utensils, dishes, etc— cleaning supplies, tech, and children’s supplies. Ideally, we will find a space where these things may be organized so that families may come and choose what they need for themselves. If you have any ideas for where we might find a space to store these things for the next four to six months, let us know right away.

We are also looking for the following:

2 double beds

1 twin bed frame

1 twin box spring

If you have any of these available please contact Theresa Riskis, of St. Patrick’s Church, directly at [email protected]
