June Worship Services

June 1 – “Stepping Into the Unknown: Embracing Change with Courage”  Change is a constant companion on life’s journey, yet it often brings uncertainty and fear. Join us this Sunday as we explore how to meet the unknown with open hearts and courageous spirits. Together, we’ll reflect on stories of transformation, draw strength from our Unitarian Universalist values, and discover ways to support one another as we step boldly into new chapters. Whether you’re facing personal transitions or seeking hope in a changing world, this service filled with surprises will offer inspiration, community, and the reassurance that we are never alone on the path of change. All are welcome!  Guest speaker Shawn Fink preaches with worship associate Cheryl Parsons.

About our Guest Speaker:  Shawn Fink is an organizational well-being & resilience consultant and business strategist. She’s been an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of York for 20+ years. She is a spiritual seeker and religious misfit. When she’s not pulling oracle cards, reading spiritual books, meditating or practicing walking prayer in nature, she’s helping people thrive and flourish at work and at home. She is also a mom of twin daughters and married to Dan. She’s happiest with a novel in one hand and an oat milk latte in the other.

June 8 – “Where the Spirit Meets the Bone”  Join us for a morning of reflection and inspiration as we stand at a pivotal threshold for our congregation. Discover how we can collectively “write a better story” – one of fierce courage, radical openness, outward reach, and profound connection that doesn’t sit on the surface, but burrows right down to where our deepest spirits truly meet the bones of our actions and community life.  Rev. Chris Kapp preaches with worship associate Tara Sollman.

June 15 – “Glitter and Grace: Worship in Full Color” On their first Sunday at UUCV, Rev. Phoenix Bell-Shelton Biggs invites us into a celebration of sacred authenticity. Drawing from world religions, queer wisdom, and Unitarian Universalist values, this homily proclaims that drag is not just performance—it’s revelation. Come be reminded that you are fearfully, wonderfully, and fabulously made. Rev. Phoenix Bell-Shelton Biggs preaches with LGBTQ Congregants as worship associates.

June 22 – “Blooming Together: Cultivating Radical Love and Sanctuary”  Join us for a Flower Communion service celebrating the beauty of each individual and the power of collective love. Bring a flower to share, symbolizing the gifts we offer one another. Together, we will reflect on our interconnectedness and cultivate a community of healing and growth. We will also give thanks for the ministry of Rev. Chris, honoring their leadership. All are welcome to bloom together in this sacred celebration.  Rev. Phoenix Bell-Shelton Biggs preaches with worship associate Rev. Chris Kapp.

June 29 – “The Journey: Rooted in Grace, Growing in Love”  This sermon will explore the ongoing journey of spiritual growth and transformation, emphasizing how being deeply rooted in grace provides a firm foundation for growth in love. It will invite the congregation to reflect on their personal journeys of faith, healing, and community. The message will highlight the cyclical nature of spiritual life—grounded in grace, nurtured by love, and empowered for service.  Rev. Phoenix Bell-Shelton Biggs preaches with worship associate Dianne Dusman.
