UUCV Membership/Hospitality Committee
Representatives of the Membership Committee are some of the first people newcomers and long-term members alike encounter as they arrive at UUCV. Every interaction creates an opportunity for us to transform lives and care for the world. We welcome everyone at the door and orient visitors to the building, the upcoming church service, and members of the community.
UUCV would be a much less welcoming place if the Membership and Hospitality Committees (currently functioning as one committee) did not exist. We acknowledge each person who comes through our doors and celebrate together after every Sunday service as well as at the big milestone events that we all share. Our church community is a family to us, and we want all members and visitors to feel like part of that family.
Without doubt, our greatest strength is our devoted crew of committee members. Each Sunday finds several of us in various locations around the building: outside the main entry doors, by the sanctuary doors, and in the social hall. Greeters, visible in their blue aprons, are available to help people find whatever they may need.
Welcoming people to our church makes an important first impression, and we encourage as many people as possible to participate. There are tasks for anyone who wants to be involved, from greeting people at the doors, to helping them fill out nametags, to passing out orders of service, to refreshing the seasonal decorations in the social hall, to helping with the coffee hour after services or at one of our special celebrations. If you are interested in participating on the Membership/Hospitality Committee, please check the UUCV website, contact our Chair, Ash Hersh [email protected] or email [email protected]
UUCV is an important community, both to its congregation and to the region. To maintain our viability, we rely upon the generosity of our members and friends. Please continue to offer your time, talents, and treasure in support of the church and its work.
