UUCV Book Group

March 20, 2016 , 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 6:30 PM in our Yuuth Room to discuss Marcus Borg’s book, Reading the Bible for the First Time Again: Taking the Bible Seriously But Not Literally. Note the word “again” in the title.  Borg wants us to read the bible again, not as a literal-factual text, but as a source of meaning and guidance.  Borg argues that it is not necessary to give up our scientific and critical ways of thinking when we read the bible.  Using current biblical scholarship and exceptionally lucid writing, he reintroduces stories and biblical texts that we thought we knew and shows that the wisdom offered is still relevant today.  Dot Everhart will lead the discussion.  Questions: Contact Richard Bronakoski at [email protected].
