DESCRIPTION:Dear UU Friends of York and Gettysburg\, \nI’m writing to invite you to a film screening of Groundswell Rising\, an important documentary on fracking in Pennsylvania. Fellow UU\, Mark Lichty\, Pocono congregation and the new co-chair of the UUPLAN Environmental Justice Team is the executive producer. \nThe film will be shown at the UU Church of the Cumberland Valley on Sunday\, March 20th beginning at 6:30 pm. It is a 70 min. film and afterward\, the director\, Renard Cohen\, will be available for discussion and a talk-back. \nPlease pass this invitation along to your networks and to other members of your congregations.\nThe address at the church is UU of the Cumberland Valley\, 2 Forge Rd\, Boiling Springs\, PA 17007. \nThen\, on Monday\, March 21\, UUPLAN will join with a multi-faith community for a MORALtorium Rally and Lobby Day to stop fracking new wells in Pennsylvania and move toward renewable energy. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, March 20\, 2016 at 6:30 PM in our Yuuth Room to discuss Marcus Borg’s book\, Reading the Bible for the First Time Again: Taking the Bible Seriously But Not Literally. Note the word “again” in the title.  Borg wants us to read the bible again\, not as a literal-factual text\, but as a source of meaning and guidance.  Borg argues that it is not necessary to give up our scientific and critical ways of thinking when we read the bible.  Using current biblical scholarship and exceptionally lucid writing\, he reintroduces stories and biblical texts that we thought we knew and shows that the wisdom offered is still relevant today.  Dot Everhart will lead the discussion.  Questions: Contact Richard Bronakoski at richbro@ix.netcom.com.
