Amy Farrell is a founding member of UUCV, which she started attending back when they met in the Friends’ Meeting House! She and her husband John raised their two kids, Nick and Catherine—who are both now young adults– in this wonderful congregation.
Along the way, she has served as chair of the RE committee, on the auction committee, the social justice committee, the Mozambique committee, and various stewardship campaigns. She and her family have also been long time visitors to the amazing UU camp Ferry Beach in Maine and she’d love to talk to any of you about that if you’re interested!
Amy teaches American studies and women’s, gender and sexuality studies at Dickinson College. She’s written two books, one on Ms. Magazine and one on fat stigma, entitled Fat Shame. She’s working on an edited volume Fat and Gender now as well as a project on the history of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
She’s really humbled and happy to be serving on the board of this wonderful congregation.
